Posture is important when playing any musical instrument. Please look at the diagram bellow for an idea of how to sit.
This is important to get correct as it will make playing the full pipes easier. Please remember that pipers play bagpipe chanters at almost full stretch, therefore proper positioning at this stage is critical.
Please note the thumb at right angles to the chanter.
The pressure indentations of the chanter holes provide a good indication if the fingers are being placed correctly. The second part of the fingers should be used. The thumb end pad is used.
